Bondi Beach And Iceberg's

We travelled twenty minutes to the famous Bondi Beach on Friday hoping to take in some sun and great food. The beach did not disappoint- complete with clear blue water, crashing waves, and tanned, fit Aussies surfing and sunning the afternoon away. Surrounding the beach was a pleasant little community filled with surf shops, cafes, and little boutiques. The real star of the afternoon however was Iceberg's, perhaps one of the two or three most popular culinary destinations in greater Sydney. Our group managed a liesurely four plus hour lunch filled with all manner of delights. We had two fantastic wines: the 2006 Mr. Riggs Watervale Riesling and the 2004 Clonakilla Shiraz Viognier. If you've never had wines from the Mr. Riggs winery then you've certainly had something made by the ubertalented Ben Riggs- Penny's Hill, Slipstream, Jip Jip Rocks to name a few. Look out for a future blog post from our visit to Penny's Hill. But to continue on about Iceberg's, and believe me I could, the meal was incredible. Everything that Rockpool was Iceberg's took to another level. Wether it was the rissoto with veal and beef ragu and pork cracklings or the simply cooked baramundi (the Rolls Royce of Australian fish), everything was executed at another level. The trip to Bondi Beach was worth the view and the food alone. As a I write you this we are preparing for our first day visiting wineries in Adelaide. Today we will see Noon, Penny's Hill, Samuel's Gorge, Dan Standish and Majella. Keep on the look out for more posts, including pictures from Bondi Beach. Cheers!
